At first glance, it may seem as if the residents of the picturesque Tree Hill have it made. Take Nathan, Lucas, Peyton, Brooke and Haley for starters. They've got youth, beauty, brains and... basketball. But, in a town like this, nothing is what it seems. Like the roots of an ancient tree, the destinies of these five are deeply twisted and tangled by betrayal, passion and secrecy.

EP. #2.01 - The Desperate Kingdom of LoveEP. # 2.01
After Lucas and Keith learn that Dan had a heart attack and is still in the hospital, they decide it is best for them to return to Tree Hill. When Deb learns about Haley and Nathan's marriage, she grows hostile. Meanwhile, angry that Lucas left Tree Hill without saying goodbye, Peyton and Brooke try to mend their friendship. GO
 

EP. #2.02 - The Truth Doesn't Make A NoiseEP. # 2.02
With the assistance of Peyton and Brooke, Lucas throws Nathan and Haley a wedding reception. Although Haley's parents support Nathan and Haley's marriage, Deb has a difficult time accepting it. Meanwhile, Dan's recent heart attack causes him to try and mend his relationships with Deb and Lucas. GO

EP. #2.03 - Near Wild HeavenEP. # 2.03
Although Nathan and Haley are already married, Tim insists on throwing Nathan a post-wedding bachelor party, while Brooke throws Haley a bachelorette party. Meanwhile, Lucas tries to decide whether he should visit Dan in the hospital. Karen decides to go back to school. Nathan gets a job working for Keith at Dan's dealership. GO
 

EP. #2.04 - You Can't Always Get What You WantEP. # 2.04
Brooke's smug new neighbor quickly makes his presence felt among the Tree Hill gang, and even comes to Brooke's rescue when she is arrested for shoplifting. Nathan and Haley have their first post-wedding argument when he buys her a gift rather than a much-needed car. Lucas' attempt to help Dan with rehab ends in disaster when Dan reverts to his old ways. Peyton tries to organize an all-ages club and is tempted to try cocaine to seal the deal. GO
 

EP. #2.05 - I Will DareEP. # 2.05
Felix organizes a "dare night" to test the limits of his new classmates. While out playing the game, Lucas meets a mysterious new girl, Anna. Peyton tearfully  confesses to the church that she recently tried cocaine and Keith is caught off guard when a beautiful woman comes to the shop and begins flirting with him. Meanwhile, Karen goes on a date with Andy, her younger professor. GO
 

EP. #2.06 - We Might As Well Be StrangersEP. # 2.06
After Dare Night resulted in new arrangements; a midnight meteor shower finds Lucas sharing a romantic night with Anna. Andy surprises Karen with a dinner and Keith cooks for Jules on their first date. Brooke finds herself forming a mutually beneficial relationship with Felix and Peyton sets out to find an opening act for her club. GO

EP. #2.07 - Let the Reigns Go LooseEP. # 2.07
The opening of Karen's club "TRIC" brings together the people of Tree Hill. Lucas and Felix come to blows over Anna. After Chris quits his gig the night of the club opening, Haley must face her fear of performing to save the night for Peyton. Although Mouth tends to Brooke while she is drunk, Felix sneaks in and attempts to take the credit. Keith and Jules realize their relationship has reached a new level, while Dan deliberately tells Karen that Deb slept with Keith. GO
 

EP. #2.08 - Truth, Bitter TruthEP. # 2.08
Brooke, Peyton, Haley and Anna have a slumber party at Haley's apartment where secrets and lies are revealed. Meanwhile, when Lucas and Nathan go on a road trip to a Bobcats game, Nathan reveals he is being tested for the genetic defect that caused Dan's heart attack and suggests Lucas do the same. After an awkward encounter with Keith and Jules, Karen and share an intimate night together.

EP. #2.09 - The Trick Is To Keep BreathingEP. # 2.09
Although Lucas takes Anna as his date to the Tree Hill High Formal, he finds himself with Brooke at the end of the night. Meanwhile, Haley's musical obligations to Chris cause her to arrive late to the formal, which angers Nathan. Peyton finds herself struggling with the growing temptation to turn to drugs. GO
 

EP. #2.10 - Don't Take Me For GrantedEP. # 2.10
Concerned about his brother s health, Nathan tells Karen Lucas did not take the heart test. Meanwhile, Keith accepts Dan's offer to continue working at the dealership as vice president. Peyton must confront rumors at school that she is a lesbian, which affects her friendship with Anna, while the gap between Nathan and Haley continues to grow. GO

EP. #2.11 - The Heart Brings You BackEP. # 2.11
Haley is surprised when her older sister Taylor comes to town, but not as shocked as Nathan, who recognizes Taylor from a past tryst. Meanwhile, Brooke and Felix decide to become boyfriend and girlfriend, while Jake surprises Peyton when he shows up in Tree Hill. Anna confides a deep secret to Lucas. GO
 

EP. #2.12 - Between Order and RandomnessEP. # 2.12
Nathan comes clean with Haley about his past relationship with Taylor, although Haley continues to emails Chris without telling Nathan. Lucas and Karen remain at odds over his refusal to take the HCM test. Keith proposes to Jules. Meanwhile, Brooke fights for better working conditions at her new job. GO

EP. #2.13 - The Hero Dies In This OneEP. # 2.13
After Lucas receives his medical test results he decides to move in with Dan, straining his relationships with both Karen and Nathan. When musical guest stars Michelle Branch & Jessica Harp from the band "The Wreckers" perform at TRIC, Haley's passion for music is reignited. Meanwhile, Brooke runs for student council president, but quickly realizes she is taking on more than she bargained for. Peyton and Jake's friendship grows stronger. GO
 

EP. #2.14 - Quiet Things That No One Ever KnowsEP. # 2.14
Nathan descends into an emotional crisis as his marriage with Haley unravels. Karen continues to question Lucas' reasoning for moving in with Dan and Deb. Brook becomes Student Council President with a little help from Mouth. Meanwhile, after much sexual tension, Jake and Peyton share their first kiss. GO

EP. #2.15 -  Unopened Letters to the WorldEP. # 2.15
When Tree Hill High does a time capsule project, the gang confesses their most intimate secrets to an anonymous video camera. Nathan's anger over Haley's absence continues to grow, landing both Lucas and Nathan in jail. Peyton and Jake's feelings for each other heat up, while Felix throws Brooke a party to celebrate her new gig as student body president. Meanwhile, when brought to court, Lucas opts to live with Dan and Deb rather than Karen. GO
 

EP. #2.16 - Somewhere A Clock is TickingEP. # 2.16
Keith and Jules' wedding day, and the event has turned the town upside down. Brooke asks Lucas to take her to the wedding as his date, Nathan makes an important decision involving his marriage to Haley, and Jake and Peyton take a big step in their relationship. Meanwhile, Karen and Andy discover Jules' secret relationship with Dan. GO
 

EP. #2.17 -  Something I Can Never HaveEP. # 2.17
Keith has a violent confrontation with Dan after learning Dan paid Jules to sleep with Keith. Anna turns Felix in to the school authorities after discovering he was the one who defaced Peyton's locker. Meanwhile, Lucas and Brooke discuss the possibility of her leaving Tree Hill for good, while Nathan decides to go get Haley and bring her home.

EP. #2.18 - The Lonesome RoadEP. # 2.18
On his way home from seeing Haley, Nathan stops to visit Taylor hoping for some fun and maybe more. Meanwhile, Anna gets a surprise visit from her old girlfriend and is inspired to tell her parents about her sexuality. Also, Lucas works with Andy to bring Dan down, Karen puts her foot down with Brooke and Peyton and Jake continue to hide baby Jenny from Nicki.

EP. #2.19 -  I'm Wide Awake, It's MorningEP. # 2.19
Nathan's Uncle Cooper comes into town to take Nathan and Lucas on a racing trip. On the track, Nathan and Lucas are challenged to a race by the beautiful Daytona and her smart aleck brother Garrett, but things go horribly wrong when Nathan loses control of his car and crashes into a wall. Meanwhile, Deb's addiction to pain pills intensifies and Dan exposes Andy's relationship with Karen to his class. GO
 

EP. #2.20 - Lifetime Piling UpEP. # 2.20
Following a racecar accident, Nathan dreams of what life would have been like if Dan had stayed with Karen and Lucas instead of marrying Deb. In this imaginary world, Lucas would have had the wealth and stature and Nathan would have been the one to grow up on the wrong side of the tracks. GO
 

EP. #2.21 -  What Could Have BeenEP. # 2.21
Nathan is released from the hospital and returns home to a pile of unpaid bills and an eviction notice. Lucas, Peyton and Brooke throw a fundraiser at the River Court to raise money, but Dan is the one that comes to Nathan's rescue. However, his gift comes with strings - he wants Nathan to ask Haley for an annulment. GO

EP. #2.22 - The Tide That Left and Never Came BackEP. # 2.22
Things heat up between Lucas and Brooke after they head to New York for an overnight stay with Haley. Nathan and Deb conspire to desert Dan for good, leading to an explosive conclusion when he discovers their plan. Peyton is elated by getting JIMMY EAT WORLD to perform at TRIC in time for Jake's release from jail. Meanwhile, Andy  invites Karen to spend the summer in New Zealand. GO

EP. #2.23 - The Leavers DanceEP. # 2.23
This episode aired as part of The Tide That Left and Never Came Back (1). They aired together. Karen decides to go to New Zealand. She constantly tries to call Andy, but she never reaches him. Karen saw Keith outside of her cafe and then he vanished when a car pulled up in front of him. Brooke has left for the summer. Dan confronts Lucas of his intentions to seek out revenge on him. It resulted, as it seems, in both of them hating each other. Someone gets their revenge on Dan who causes all the trouble in Tree Hill. Dan may be dead because someone caught his dealership on fire with him in it. Haley comes back to Tree Hill to see Nathan. GO
